MOVE Travel Trainer

JOB TITLE: MOVE Travel Trainer

JOB OVERVIEW

The Travel Trainer works with Stanislaus County residents such as students, older adults, and people with disabilities to teach them how to travel via public transportation systems independently. The Travel Trainers responsibilities are to provide education and training for a client on public transportation. Training will include virtual and in person throughout the county.

The trainings will include individual and group settings.

COMPENSATION

$16-17.50/per hour, depending on experience/qualifications.

LOCATION/HOURS

Modesto, Ca. This is a 40-hour per week position, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings and evenings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct travel training, community, and safety education programs for persons with disabilities and seniors.
  • Develop and implement individualized transportation plans and mobility instruction curriculum for travel training participants.
  • Act as a professional liaison and maintain open communication between the agency and various stake holders including family/friends of individuals served, other service providers and transit personnel.
  • Interpret maps, timetables, and other transit materials for route planning.
  • Complete intake and assessment of individuals to determine eligibility for travel training.
  • Training may be provided virtually utilizing Zoom or Go-to-Meeting platforms.
  • In field training will be conducted on bus routes throughout Stanislaus County.
  • Outcomes, evaluation, and data collection will be entered into the MOVE custom software.
  • Provide follow-up and retraining services to individuals.
  • Support individuals in communicating needs to transit providers.
  • Maintain attendance and program records, individual progress notes and reports.
  • Identify transit issues affecting people with disabilities and address issues as appropriate.
  • Assist the writing and the completion of monthly/quarterly/yearly reports if requested by management.
  • Conduct outreach efforts to generate and maintain referral pool.
  • Complete special projects within the field of mobility services as assigned.
  • Participate in “All Staff Meetings” and trainings.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • One year of experience working with seniors or persons with disabilities (preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must maintain a satisfactory driving record.
  • You are required to be in possession of a car on site during your entire shift to transport yourself to community sites in all weather conditions and throughout all neighborhoods in Stanislaus County.
  • Depending upon assignment, must be able to work in a variety of settings, weather conditions and locations.
  • Must be willing to work in all regions of Stanislaus County.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to walk/travel ½ mile at minimum several times per day, over various terrains while travel training.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.

SKILL BASED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings and evenings.
  • Communicate clearly in oral and written form on a constant basis.
  • Work independently, utilize good judgment, and possess a strong sense of initiative.
  • Push and move weights up to 10 lbs. on a constant basis and 25 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Bilingual-Spanish preferred.
