What will I be doing when I volunteer?

You will be driving and assisting homebound Veterans to their medical appointments in Modesto, Livermore, Palo Alto.

How often do I need to drive?

You can choose your own schedule. It can be a few days a week or as little as one day per month. We will work around your schedule.

Do I need a special license for driving the Veteran Vans?

You do not need a special license. You do need to have a valid California Drivers License.

Do I need special training?

We will provide training through our current volunteers. They will assist you with locating the facilities and how to utilizie the wheel chair accessible vehicles.

How do I sign up?

Contact MOVE at 209-522-2300 and let us know you would like to become a volunteer. We will assist you through the process.

How long does it take once I apply to begin driving?

The process can take up to 2 to 3 weeks.

Is there a cost to the volunteers?

No, all of the cost for fuel, insurance, etc. is covered by MOVE.
