What will I be doing when I volunteer?
As a VetsVan Volunteer, you will be driving homebound and disabled Veterans to their medical appointments.
How often do I need to drive?
You can drive as often as your schedule permits. There is no time requirement.
Do I need a special license for driving the Veteran Vans?
No, just a valid California Driver’s License.
Do I need special training?
Each VetsVan Volunteer participates in an Orientation and receives training on wheelchair securement, along with taking a one-day Defensive Driver Course within the first year.
How do I sign up?
Complete an application for the VetsVan program and do a background security check.
How long does it take once I apply to begin driving?
It takes approximately 3 weeks to complete the application process, orientation, and training before beginning to drive.
Is there a cost to the volunteers?
There is no cost to the volunteer.
